Returns to Baltimore, Colorado & Met debut

Alsop begins 2024 conducting the premiere of Lydia Steier’s new production of Candide at MusikTheater an der Wien (January 17-February 3). At the end of January Alsop leads the RSO Wien in two recital programs, the first featuring works by Bernstein and Shostakovich (January 24), followed by soprano Fatma Said singing Mahler (January 29).

On February 9, Alsop is on the podium at NOSPR for an evening entitled “Latinos and Heroes.” Mid-month Alsop travels to the US, leading the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra in performances of “Time for Three” (February 15-18). In late February, Alsop conducts Beethoven’s Ninth with the Colorado Symphony for the company’s centennial season (February 23-25).

In March, Alsop returns to Baltimore for the annual Peabody Symphony Orchestra concert in memory of Steven Muller, pacing the orchestra in works by Prokofiev and Rachmaninoff (March 1). On March 15 and 21, she leads two more recital programs at RSO Wien before returning to the US.

On April 23, Alsop makes her highly anticipated Met Opera debut conducting the company premiere of John Adams’s El Niño (April 23-May 17). Alsop paces a cast that includes soprano Julia Bullock and bass-baritone Davóne Tines, with J’Nai Bridges and Daniela Mack alternating the mezzo-soprano role.
