Performing Worldwide this Fall

A busy fall begins this September, as Marin Alsop travels to Copenhagen to conduct Brahms’s Piano Concerto no. 1 with the Danish National Symphony Orchestra and soloist Jan Lisiecki. Performed at the DR Koncert Huset on September 23 and September 24, the program also includes Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade.

Next, Alsop travels to Austria to lead the ORF Radio-Symphonieorchester Wien (RSO Wien) at the International Brucknerfest 2021, conducting works by Hans Rott, Wolf, and Mahler on September 30. On October 1, Alsop and the RSO Wien perform the program again at Musikverein Wien. Later, on October 8, Alsop leads the RSO Wien in an evening of Thomas Adès, Bernstein, and new works with pianist Víkingur Ólafsson, soprano Simone Schneider, and the Wiener Singakademie. Following performances in Vienna, Alsop and Víkingur Ólafssonm join the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra at the Alte Oper Frankfurt, performing Barber, Thomas Adès, and Brahms on October 14 & 15.

Alsop then travels to the US to perform with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, conducting works Strauss, Anna Clyne, and Rachmaninoff with pianist Lukáš Vondráček at The Music Center at Strathmore on October 23 and Joseph Meyerhoff Symphony Hall on October 24.

Following Baltimore, Alsop returns to the Wiener Konzerthaus to conduct an evening of world premieres with the RSO Wien, featuring the music of Milica Djordejevic, Thomas Wally, Chirstian Ofenbauerl, and Andre Sodomka. Selina Ott joins on trumpet (October 30).

In November, Alsop travels to Saõ Paulo, Brazil, performing with the Saõ Paulo State Symphony Orchestra (OSESP) and pianist Gabriela Montero on November 11, 12, 13 in a program featuring Tchaikovsky and Rimsky-Korsakov. Alsop continues her performances with OSESP on November 18, 19, 20 (program to be announced).

December begins at the Berlin Philharmonie, with the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin and cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason (December 5). Alsop then returns to the US for three performances with the New World Symphony Orchestra, featuring pianist Aaron Diehl on December 10, 11, and 12. The December 10 & 11 performances feature NWS Conducting Fellow Chad Goodman for Anna Clyne’s Masquerade.
