Based in the Netherlands, the Pentatone record label has welcomed the GRAMMY-nominated American conductor Marin Alsop to its roster of internationally renowned artists.
This new partnership with the label will see Alsop lead extensive symphonic cycles of Mahler and Shostakovich. She will become the first woman conductor ever to record these surveys.
Alsop, who has been making acclaimed recordings since the early 1990s, is currently artistic director and chief conductor of the Polish National Radio Symphony, principal guest conductor of the Philadelphia Orchestra, and principal guest conductor of London’s Philharmonia Orchestra, among other appointments.
Her Mahler symphony cycle on Pentatone will feature both the Philharmonia and the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, where she is currently honorary conductor. The first recording planned for release by the end of 2027 will be Mahler’s Symphony No. 9.
More details on Alsop’s other upcoming recording projects on Pentatone will be announced in due course.
