Today BBC Music launches its online ‘virtual orchesra’, conducted by Marin Alsop, and calls all music lovers and musicians to take part. The unique digital performance will be part of the world famous Last Night of the Proms celebrations on Saturday 10 September.

Marin Alsop brings the BBC Proms to a spectacular close on Saturday September 12 conducting the BBC Singers, BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus, tenor Jonas Kaufmann, soprano Daniele de Niese and pianist Benjamin Grosvenor at London’s Royal Albert Hall.

On Saturday night Marin made history as the first woman to conduct the Last Night of the BBC Proms. She conducted the BBC Symphony Orchestra and Chorus as well as soloists Joyce DiDonato, Nigel Kennedy and Iestyn Davies to an extremely enthusiastic and patriotic audience of over 6,000 inside London’s Royal Albert Hall.
The BBC Proms season draws to a close on Saturday 7 September as Marin Alsop takes to the podium to conduct the Last Night celebrations. The concert will be broadcast live on BBC television and radio, on the BBC’s big screens around Britain as well as to listeners and viewers around the world.
